Kalba Kartu
Free, volunteer-run Lithuanian language club in Vilnius. Helping you learn - and a relaxed, friendly space to just chat.
Get started
New here? Welcome - here’s everything you need to just show up.
- What language are the meetings in?
- We help in English and Russian. At more advanced levels people use pure Lithuanian, and if you’d prefer another language we’ll try to accommodate you.
- How does a session work?
- We gather, do a short intro and present the day’s topics. Then we split into small groups based on your learning needs, Lithuanian level and language of instruction (English or Russian). Each group is assigned Lithuanian speakers and we do exercises or just chat. Some groups have a regular teacher with a structured lesson; most simply chat. A session lasts 1.5–2 hours, and afterwards we usually go grab some food or drinks.
- I’m a complete beginner (or quite advanced) - is that OK?
- Absolutely. We group people so everyone feels comfortable, whether you know nothing yet or are close to native. For different levels we provide different tasks and topics.
- Do I need to register or book?
- No. Just walk in - every meeting is free and open to everyone, every time. Join whenever you like.
- Where exactly do I go?
- Our regular venues, addresses and map links are in the Meetings section below. Walking-tour meeting points change each time and are posted on Facebook and Telegram.
- Will I feel out of place?
- We were all new once. The whole point is to make a comfortable place where anyone can start. Come alone or bring a friend, and feel free to just listen at first - you’re always welcome.
- Is this a course?
- We’re volunteers, not a paid course - just people who love the language and want to help.
Have other questions?
Kalba Kartu is possible only thanks to volunteers - and we’d love your help.
You don’t need to be a Lithuanian teacher or make any formal commitment to join. If you like to chat, a couple of hours whenever you can spare them is plenty. Even if you’re not a native speaker, you can help with organising, art, or really anything. Just come to our meetings whenever you’re free, or get in touch with us.
Kalba Kartu isn’t the only way to practice in Vilnius. We’re glad to point you to other non-commercial Lithuanian-speaking communities - the more the better.

Our Meetings
Our Regular Events
Language Club in Caritas
Free Lithuanian conversation practice with help on guided exercises and exam prep. A relaxed place to speak, meet people and build connections.
At Caritas we open with a short welcome (our “presentation” here is just a brief opening), then split into small groups by level and language. A couple of groups have consistent teachers and stay together week to week; the majority are grouped as they come. We help with speaking, guided exercises and exam preparation. A session runs about 1.5–2 hours, and many of us head out for food or drinks afterwards. Free, no registration - just come. On a typical week around 50 people join us at Caritas.
Caritas Foreigners Integration Centre, Kalvarijų g. 39. Entrance is around the corner, from Krokuvos g., through the gate and down the stairs.
Language Club in Library
Free Lithuanian session in the library - a themed presentation, guided exercises and exam help, then chatting in the Old Town.
At the Library we run a proper themed presentation, then practise together. There’s a separate space for anyone who prefers to do written exercises or get help preparing for exams. We help with speaking, guided exercises and exam preparation. Afterwards we usually move to the Old Town to keep chatting in a relaxed setting. All levels welcome, free, no booking needed. On a typical week around 35 people join us at the Library.
Go to Trakų g. 10. The auditorium is not inside the library - the courtyard entrance is outside, to the right of the main entrance, and the auditorium is in the courtyard to the right.
Walking Tours “I Do It Anyways”
Exploring Vilnius and its art, architecture and history. Each tour covers a new area and new topic. Tours run in Russian and English every other Sunday. Organized by volunteer Edvinas Palujanskas.
